Bending Pipes

Okay, figured what was happening… back to being a happy camper again… andnbsp;but let me see if I got this figured but I’ll do this in another thread.

Whats the best tool to use when bending a thin cylinder into a pipe shape, Deform or bend ?

I am using version 6 LP and I can’t seem to get the piping script to work at all.

I think the piper was compiled for 5.7 only…
Luckily James provided the source code so I’ll e-mail you a copy for V6.0 shortly.

Pipes are the biggest problem in 3DC, I’m still working on another plugin based on building pipes along selected object edges.

The piper plugin is the best option so far. Bending and deforming are not simple to use.

I agree… I have yet to use piper (6.0 is the reason). My pipes always look very blockish due to the sharp angles… andnbsp;but they are low poly count.

A 6.0 version of piping scripts would be very welcome.

You mean that 3dc isn’t very good at bending pipes? Just great. Between screwy msts exports and now piping, just why did we migrate here from TSM? Makes me wonder what else I don’t know about yet. I’m actually finding myself using TSM more which is the opposite of what I wanted to do. This is getting to be a bummer.

well… andnbsp;I have done all of my handgrabs and handrails without ever bending a pipe… andnbsp;so it’s not a real big problem.

I actually like the way extrude works for piuping… andnbsp;especially on a low, poly 4-5 sided rod.
