I printed out all the help files and tutorials and am busy working my way through them. I am very impressed with all the clever features of 3DC – and for such a low price. Terrain and surfaces look very interesting.

As I haven’t spotted any reference to it in the documentation yet I will ask – how do I create a background for (starfield etc) my models?
Something as simple as a floor would be handy too……
Thanks
Paul
Okay, I have backgrounds sorted out but how do I get a floor?
I have looked in the documentation, honest!
Paul
Oops, sorry. Found it….
Do you mean a floor to replage the grid or a floor to stand things on ?
To replace the grid (eg to use a blue print) click on the wagon icons at the top – these allow you to select a picture which will replace the grid.
If you just want a floor for your objects to stand on then you could add a cube and resize/position it below the other objects ?
Thanks for that Alan.
The only other 3D program I have used is openfx ([img:57xk7x58]http://www.openfx.org[/img:57xk7x58]
<!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.openfx.org">http://www.openfx.org</a><!– m –>
) which includes a ‘ground’ model.
Ideally I wanted something like this in 3DC, but I will have use use a cube as you said.
Many thanks for your help
Paul
3DC does have a terrain object to build more complex floors (just thought – I bet with a suitable heightmap and texture a great wooden floor-board floor could be made…. I must try to play later ! andnbsp;) and you could also use the plugin andquot;create faceandquot; to help reduce the face count (rather than use a cube)
(there is also the surface object – but I’ve never even tried that…. :-[ )
