B3D

Interchange is a converter prog that says it does b3d to .x (I haven’t tried that combination), it also does a load of other formats. I got my (freeware) copy here:-

The Hump

Does anyone know how to modify a B3D file to 3DS file:?

I don’t think it can be done. YET. I havn’t seen a b3d to 3dc converter. You could convert the b3d file to .x and then import into 3dc.
We need to keep asking Richard if he can sort this one out for us. We really do need an b3d import and export in 3dc it would save me hours. I think this also applies to Dark Basic users who now have there own file format. So Richard what can you do for us? I,m BEGGING PLEEEEEASE?

Could you modify a B3D file to a .x file for me (I dont know how to do it myself)

Yes, I should be able to convert the file for you. The only problem you may have when importing into 3dc is that any textures may not import correctly. Is it a large file? Can you attach it to a post?

Hi

Just to add to comment about textures. I have jsut been through a major headache with 3DC of my own making. I read some info about managing lots of textrues and they suggested storing different textures in sub folders e.g. wood, glass etc etc. being a ‘good boy’ I did this and then rebuilt my library files in 3DC to point to new locations. Result a major screw up of my own making as every time I opened a 3DC file most of the textures would be missing. I had to ‘look’ at eachtexture or material library and reopen the file before textures could be seen.

Spoke to Richard and eventually sorted it out by putting all textures back into main texture folder and rebuilding libraries again. What Richard did say was that if textures are in the main folder or in the same folder as the 3DC file they should work ok. So if you send the file and the texture files should be ok if you copy the textures into your main texture folder (in my documents) before opening file for the first time.
