Another question

Thanks a lot, everyone! I appreciate all of your help!

If I ever get this Liberator I’m working on looking right, I plan to submit it for the gallery. Wish me luck.

Richard

I’ve encountered a problem with losing a face while I’m trimming points and lines.

Here’s one for you, Richard… when I clone an object more than once, the program shuts down and doesn’t display an error message. Could it be a memory or video card problem or is it a glitch?

How the heck does that weld operation work? I can’t get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

And finally, for you aircraft modelers, is there a free resource on the web that has 3 view graphics of WW2 warbirds?

Thanks for any help provided!

Richard

Its not what your looking for but the person who operates this site will be able to help. There is a contact email address. He does a lot of commercial work for the major game companies. Take a look at his work its great and he’s into American WW2 aircraft bigtime. I asume a warbird is an american aircraft. He has been really helpful to me answering questions on all aspects of 3D modelling on the Blitz and Giles forums. Hope this helps.

weld: there are 4 weld options in 3dc :
weld – two or more points selected and then combined them into one point at a centre position.
weld nearest – select one point and press ‘weld nearest’ , 3dc will move the nearest point to your selected point and join them together.
weld to nearest – is like weld nearest but moves your selected point to the nearest point rather than the other way around.
weld to first selected point – you need to select 2 or more points (ctrl click) then the 2, 3, 4, etc points will be moved to the first selected point and all joined into 1.

The link is to a thread on 3D Buzz which is a massive free site for all 3D modellers. It is well worth joining this site as the info available seems almost limitless.

I personally, have two books, they have three demensional, structural drawings of just about every WWII bird ever made. I just scan them and use them in the scene as horizontal images. Then I block model from there. Then tweak them in the later stages. I do all my texturing and lighting and final scene includes in POV to get photo-realistic images.
