Animation help

just guessing but it’s probably the keys per second setting in your animation. (available when you set up how many animation keys you want etc etc)

Now that I’m fairly comfortable with static objects I thought it would be interesting to try some animations.

So I created a simple cube and got it spin in 3DC. I exported the cube and loaded it into the MSTS and it just sits there, no movement.

[snip]

I figured it out. I need 3 objects with the correct names. Then it works. It doesn’t work with just a single object.

Now what I need to know is how to slow the animation down. My test cube spins quite quickly. How do I slow this down? Say, one revolution every 5 seconds or so.

Thank you! That did the trick. Amazing what one little number in the s file will do.

Richard, is that something that can be added to the MSTS wizard? A function for animated objects other than engines would round out the wizard very nicely.

Joerg

Hi Joerg,

If you wish to spin just a simple object like the cube, animate it in 3DC, export to MSTS and in the Route Editor, select the object with F2, then right click on it and on the second Tab select ‘Animate this object’.

To change the animation speed, you will need to edit the .s file of your object, there re two lines like
animations ( 1
andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp;animation ( 8 3

If you reduce the second figure in the animation line, e.g. reduce the 3 to 2 it will slow it down.

Mike.
