animating angled parts

Make sure you’re in Object Coordinates mode when you animate the pistons, and also make sure that you originally created the piston so that its Y axis passes vertically through it. After that, don’t use the Shift tool on the piston…rotate it only with the nav control or the object properties window.

Provided that you do so, and also assuming that you properly link the pistons within the hierarchy of the locomotive, you should get the result you expect during animation.

I am building a steam loco with angled cylinders and would like a way of animating the piston so that it slides along its angle ie not just left and right but andnbsp;up and down – is there a way of doing this without having to move it manualy (I have tried but get jumps in the animation.
