This seems to be ‘un-fixed’ in 8.1.6 <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

In standard coordinate mode with 7.1.2, applying a material from above used to ‘snap’ in the same way as the side view application.
This doesn’t seem to be working in 8.1.3

Are you sure it doesn’t work? Try ‘Highlight selection with material preview’. It may just be that you have to be more vertical than in previous releases.

Definitely doesn’t work (with preview material on too)
It does work when the whole object is selected but not when faces are selected.
Another very strange thing is that when I have the top face of a cube selected and click each of the coordinate modes in turn, the whole cube shifts position on model or face coordinates mode.

I have these two things fixed in the new release.
