6-string guitar

Thanks for the feedback George, all of it very valid. I used a fair amount of ‘poetic licence’ I must admit – yes the clear bridge is not realistic but I liked the way it looked. I’d be very happy to receive your rosewood texture, thanks.

A rosette around the sound hole, or any kind of emphasis, would be good I agree. I blame sheer idleness for not doing that originally, which is the same reason the frets are evenly spaced – they are a part of a ‘cross-hatch’ texture that I simply applied. Do a ‘proper job’ would be far better.

If you do create a model I’d be interested to see it. In the meantime you’ve inspired me to spend a little more time improving my model. I have been thinking about a brass instument like a trumpet, or for a real challenge, a sax. I think they would look great if done properly.

Thanks again.

Ian.

Completely modelled in 3DC 4.2, although materials applied and rendering done in vue d’esprit 4.

Happy with everything apart from the body which doesn’t really have the shape I wanted. Getting that classic acoustic guitar shape proved tricky (at least for me), that was as close as I could get.

Comments welcomed.

ianm,
That looks great! Reminds me of one of the mexican style guitars. Some mariachi(spelling?) groups use one that has a very large body, and is shaped simialr to yours.
All in all, I’d say you did a fine job.
Les

You’re right, it does. Must be a special kind of wood andnbsp;;)

Actually I left the transparency option on for no good reason, thanks for pointing it out.

is it me or does it kinda look partially transparent?

That is VERY COOL!!!
The only thing is, why is the neck white?
I think that thats good enough for the gallery!

Simon

Thanks for the comments, the neck is white because of the material I used to get the lines sorted out. I guess with a bit more time I could have edited the material to match the base.

By the way, the clear plastic bridge at the base of the strings isn’t aligned correctly either…..must try harder!

nice, what about those stupid lil’ dots on the neck? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D think yah could make an electric guitar 2?? there harder.

Very pretty and started me thinking, as I intend to do some guitars soon.

The clear bridge andnbsp;does look nice but it’s not very traditional! andnbsp;By coincidence I came across a rosewood image texture today. andnbsp;Rosewood is commonly used for bridges. andnbsp;Let me know if you want it.

It would be nice to add a rosette around the sound hole. andnbsp;I just realised that they are made by tiling in real life, so if you can make a donut out of quads, it should be a snack.

Frets in real life aren’t evenly spaced. andnbsp; You could possible do a beam and then increase the extrusion toward teh head for each fret, if you wanted. It looks nice enough as it is.

George
