5.0.8 MSTSExport crashes 3dc

No problem at all. I do actually want people to use the Wizard since I put a week of my life into it andnbsp;:)

Also, I made a small change to the Wizard to make it more obvious that you don’t actually andquot;needandquot; bogies. It still asks for them and warns about them but it makes it fairly clear that you don’t need them.

As I installed 3dc 5.08 I had to load my older files and they were converted to the new format. Now I tried to export my model the old way without TSWizard but 3dc crashes and suggests to contact amabilis.
Now I uninstalled 5.08 and reinstalled 5.06 which previously worked without a problem but 5.06 does not accept the files as they are from a newer version. Is there a way to persuade 5.06 to load the converted files or do I have to start from scratch?

Oops andnbsp;:-[

Until a fix is available you can still export via the MSTS wizard. If you don’t want to andquot;useandquot; the wizard as intended you can just set type of andquot;dieselandquot; do not enter a number of the wheels, and uncheck the production of the non-s files and all it should produce is an s file. You’ll have to manually move the s file to its correct location though.

I have had same problem and advised Richard on the other forum, suggest you wait, he will probably fix it pretty quickly.

Mike.

My problem with this solution is that I have no plugins i.e. TSWizard; if I had andnbsp;I’d tried that way. Btw I mostly use the Wizard now for exporting but this is quite an old project and I didn’t think of the TSWizard out of habit.

I have fixed this for 5.0.9, which should be available relatively soon.

Hi Richard,

Had a little problem with the Wizard exporting from 5.0.8 – Wagon I have was made in earlier version of 3DC and works fine there, however I have been re-texturing it.

Problem is wagon has 8 wheels, but no bogies (similar to Scotsman tender). Body is main and wheels are Wheels11, Wheels12, Wheels21 and Wheels22 – I have found this works fine in MSTS and the wheels turn ok.

When I put this through the Wizard, I put in wheels as 4 and 4, then it asks for front bogie and rear bogie – but these do not exist and if I skip it says they are missing and can not continue?

Will wait for 5.0.9 and export it manually, but have I got it wrong somewhere and in future do I have to make models to comply with the Wizard requiring bogies?

Mike.

Waiting eagerly because if I export the suggested way with TSWizard all reserved expressions (Bogie1, Wheels1 etc.) are automatically changed to andquot;Frameandquot; and nothing goes animationwise.

If you are exporting a engine/wagon, then why not use the wizard as it is intended? Just curious. The instructions I gave were for andquot;objectsandquot; where the user didn’t want to add to a particular route. You can still name it anything you want and it will go to a andquot;temporaryandquot; folder not overwriting your existing eng/wag etc.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the help, I managed to export everything through the Wizard and now that I have the hang of it, will use it most of the time.

It is very good at setting up the .sd file for wagons.

Mike.

I just had to reorganize the hierarchy of my steam-model and used the wizard to export and it worked a treat. I’m more than impressed, Richard, the wizard is quite versatile. It maybe was just neophobia and the fact that I really worked smoothly with the old method but using the wizard is better and faster by far. Thanks!

Mike,

The Train Simulator Wizard does actually work with bogie-less wagons. When you are asked to select a bogie just click andquot;ignoreandquot;. When you select the wheels, it will tell you that it couldn’t move the wheels to the bogies, but that is OK. It should still work.

I tried it this morning with a 2-2 bogie-less tender I made and it worked fine. The wheels turned.

Richard
