Hi Richard,
Just as a place holder – I think we still have an issue with Rod Animator… I already sent Paul an email so I’m sure he will check it when he gets some time…
Description: I use the – FILE – EXPORT – TRAINWORKS – MS TRAIN SIMULATOR export like I do all the time… My current model exports fine without complaint and loads into Shape Viewer without an issue… The only problem I have is when I try to view the animations in Shape Viewer – I get a "Run-Time Error #9 Subscript Out of Range" error… I’ve triple checked my animations in 3DC – they all look good – they are all set to 16 Frames – and – currently the only animations are those created by "Rod Animator"… I’ve run the finished model through "Shape Fixer" and still Shape Viewer crashes with the aforementioned error in animation mode…
To further test – I created a new model via the "Train Engineer" plug-in – cleared all animations – then animated the wheels and connecting rods to 16 frames via "Rod Animator"… I then exported this model and it works fine in Shape Viewer – including the animations…
On the model where I had the error – I cleared all animations – then animated all the wheels and connecting rods via "Rod Animator"… I exported the file and it worked fine without any errors in Shape Viewer… I went back to 3DCrafter – ran the Rod Animator plug-in to animate both the driver rod and the piston object – exported the model and the failure returned…
It seems that there may be an issue with Rod Animator when animating rods (Other than wheel link rods) and the piston object…
Regards,
Scott

Hi Richard,
[b:3bori9ln][color=#FF0000:3bori9ln]3DC825 Train-Sim Export Broken[/color:3bori9ln][/b:3bori9ln]
The previously reported animation problem may not be with "Rod Animator" – it may be the Train-Sim Exporter… I think we are dead in the water on exporting animated steam locomotives in 3DC825 – which may affect a large portion of your customer base… Once a model has any of the "ROD’s" animated it appears that the model will crash in Shape Viewer when attempting to view the animations… As a further test – I took a fully functioning/animated version 3DC721 model – imported it into 3DC825 – and I now get the exact same error from Shape Viewer – "Run-Time Error #9 – Subscript out of range" whenever I try to view the animations… I didn’t touch any of the working animations in the model from 3DC721 – just did the import – then export… Is this something you can look at – or – is this another issue for Paul ??? I’d really like to be able to continue work on my model – but – now I’m stuck…
Regards,
Scott

This one should be relatively easy to track down. All I need to have is the same file exported from 3DC 8 and 3DC 7. I can look at the resulting s files and compare the resulting animations to see what is different.

I fixed something that MIGHT fix this. It certainly could cause problems for animation created from plug-ins/scripts.

This is the same issue as one other bug, so I’ll merge the two.

I believe this is fixed, but I can’t be certain. Can someone let me know when they have used it and feel it is working correctly, or not correctly? Thanks.

Hi Richard,
Well we are making progress… I fully removed all 3DC from my laptop – then installed 3DC827 fresh…
<!– s;) –><!– s;) –>
LOD’s are now exporting fine… Woohoo… Unfortunately – it seems the animations are still broken… I took a model that was fully animated in 3DC7 – imported to 3DC827 – exported with both the "Wizard" and the "File/Export" functions… The model exports with LOD’s now – however when you open the resulting shape in "Shape Viewer" and try and run the animations – I still get the same error message "Run Time Error 9 – Subscript Out of Range"… Then Shape Viewer crashes… Same result with both exporters…

Scott

I’m not overly surprised. I just had to "hope" since I didn’t have any example models that showed the problem. Can you send me an example? (<!– e –>support2@amabilis.com<!– e –>) With textures would be best. Thanks.
