Hi Richard,
I’ve exhausted all my attempts to create MSTS LOD’s… I believe the exporter is not working properly… Really appreciate some help on this – I’ve got countless hours invested in attempts to get my MSTS steam locomotive models to export with ANIMATIONS and with LOD’s in 3DC825… Neither of which seems to work…

Scott

Hi Richard,
UPDATE: After tons of hours testing – it seems that only steam locomotives seem unable to create LOD’s… I have two separate locomotive models that fail – however – their associated tenders export with LOD’s fine… I’ll send you an example of a model that is unable to produce LOD’s…

Scott

Hi Richard,
I just started using 3DC825 with WIN7x64 on a new laptop… All previous LOD testing we discussed was done on Vista and XP…
"Custom LOD" symptoms changed… Now ANY attempt to export a "Custom LOD" ends with 3DC crashing on fatal error #91… I did try removing and reinstalling 3DC… "Automatic LOD" creation works fine…

Scott

Can you give me a status update? I’m not quite sure where you are receiving the error 91.

I believe this was a procedural issue that is now resolved?
It would be nice if we documented what needs to be done. I think DOM107 has a document that we could perhaps add it to.
I’d also like to see a warning that no LODs were found. Maybe include in the message a hint at what to look for.

Hi Richard,
As per our emails: I upgraded to 8.2.6 – and – set the "Rail Sim" group appropriately… I’m still getting the system crash now whenever I try to create a "Custom LOD"… Let me try and completely remove and reinstall one more time with 826… I have a Vista and XP box as well – I didn’t get a chance to try it on them this weekend… Let me dfo some more testing and get back to you…

Scott

Hi Richard,
Both 3DC825 and 3DC826 on WIN7x64 – "Custom LOD’s" cause unrecoverable error 91 – then 3DC crashes… I’ve tried reloading 3DC (both 825 and 826) and I’ve tried multiple models… In the attached link I created a test and reduced "Custom LOD’s" to just (3) LOD models each with a single cube each… The hierarchy contains "Main", "Main.100", and "Main.200"… I created the custom group field "Rail Sim" you mentioned in our emails… I populated the custom group field with "Main", "Main.100", and "Main.200" respectively… The system still crashes immediately upon trying to create a "Custom LOD" and it doesn’t matter if the custom group field is present or not… This crash may be OS dependent as I believe I could get 825 to export without crashing on my XP box… I don’t have access to that machine until the weekend – so I can’t try a different OS at the moment…
This seems to be only affecting the "File-Export-Trainworks-MicrosoftTrainSimulator" exporter as the "TrainSim Wizard" appears to work – at least with my test file… I haven’t had enough time to use the wizard on my real models yet…
This test file crashes both 3DC825 and 3DC826 on Win7x64 when attempting any "Custom LOD" export…

Anyone else – please feel free to try it if interested…
Regards,
Scott
PS: I did get my real models to generate LOD’s via the Trainsim Wizard – so yep – that missing Rail Sim custom field was what was causing the failure… Thanks !!!

I reproduced the error on my computer. It should be easy to fix now.

I spoke too soon. Maybe not quite as easy to fix as I thought. I’ll have to see how the Rail Simulator export does this.

Ok. That’s fixed, based on the example provided at least.
