The next step would be to run Windows Update and make sure you are up to date on everything.

I have recently treated myself to a new laptop pc but I am having big problems getting 3DC to run.
The program installs fine (6.5.2 by the way), performs all the compatability tests and starts up with no problems. If I try to add a primitive however nothing actually appears on my scene and within a few seconds I find myself back in XP.
I have reinstalled DirectX 9 and graphics drivers.
My pc is XP Home, AMD processor, ATI Radeon 9600, 512mb RAM.
I have tried completely deleting 3DC (including folders) and downloading again but problem is still there. I also ran a program which is supposed to clear out any junk from registry.
Anyone got any ideas what the trouble is?
