3DC 8.2 fails to load

I went through the .dll files in the 3DC 8.2 main folder and tried to register each individually. The following .dll’s failed to register.

dfavi.dll
dfhpf.dll
riched32.dll

I uninstalled 8.1.7 prior to installing 8.2. I get the initial splash screen, and then I get a 3DC message stating that ‘3DC has stopped working’. Changing the compatibility settings or uninstalling 7.1.2 has no affect. I’ve made no changes to my system since I began running the first version of 8.

Ditto here but I don’t even get as far as Mike does, no splash but a crash after a few seconds.
My 3DC log is even shorter than his!
Uninstalled previous version and all plug-ins.
Also restarted PC but no joy.
To me it looks like a missing dll registration?

I think I might know what it is. A missing dependent DLL.

If you install 7.1.2, 3DC 8.2 might start working.

Did you remove Documents3DC 8.1′ from ‘My Documents’ directory before installation?

That’s what I did and I have no problem so far except some library [img:1zh2jhta]http://amabilis.com/forumattachments/a/tpc/f/179102192/m/390104374[/img:1zh2jhta]
initialization problems
which were easy to solve.

Gee, I don’t know now. I tried to rebuild things and got a smaller installer.

I’ll try installing 8.2 on another computer that I think might have the same problem. It shold be easy from there to fix the problem.

I have installe 8.2 and it starts fine, but every time I close it, MS-window
‘Program stopped working and is closing’.

I uninstalled 7.1.2, installed 8.2 and then installed 7.1.2. However, 8.2 still fails to load.

That gives me some clues.

De-installed and made sure there were no 3DC folders neither in Programs or User Documents folders.
Clean install of 8.2 does not work, crashes shortly after start of program.
Then installed 7.1.2 while keeping 8.2, 7.1.2 starts without problem but 8.2 still crashes.
Finally I de-installed both, deleted folders and installed 8.1.7 which works as it should.
I’m attaching the concatenated logs from trying to start v8.2 without and with v7.1.2 present.
There are some slight differences at the end of the log with two more rows when v7.1.2 is absent?
If there is something else you want tested please ask.

ps adding some information in the log concerning which version is running and
dll-versions might help in the future (only a suggestion)
