just for interest I made lparser generate it’s simplest tree, to andnbsp;see how it went (it’s a fractal type vegetation generating thingy). andnbsp;Only 13000 faces. andnbsp;Well under 200.
It did have me confused for a few seconds but then I put it down to sarcasm ?
There exists a programm called Treemaker with the possibility to export in 3ds format. The trees it generates are way to high in the poly-count but maybe import into 3dc works and one could work on them. andnbsp;I haven’t tested it because the demo doesn’t allow saving and before I buy I’d like to know if import and export really do work. So I’ll wait if someone out there has it and can confirm the im-, export possibilities. If nobody comes forward then I’m going to risk the 10$ they charge for the program and test it myself. Btw the website is [img:3w4jik5r]http://www.treemaker.nl/[/img:3w4jik5r]
<!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.treemaker.nl/">http://www.treemaker.nl/</a><!– m –>
.
Just been for a quick look at the site ([img:2541q7v0]http://www.treemaker.nl[/img:2541q7v0]
<!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://www.treemaker.nl">http://www.treemaker.nl</a><!– m –>
) and downloaded the demo. The tree are good but the face count is too high – in the pic below the one on the left is 2600+ faces and the one on the right 24000+ faces. andnbsp;
I bet someone could do a script/plugin for this…. (hint hint) <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
13000 is just smaller than 200, but in a non-Euclidean way. andnbsp;I’m waiting for 13DC to take advantage of it.
LParser is free and I got it from:

You have to go through a dxf export. andnbsp;It can also do POV but I didn’t try that. andnbsp;The c++ code is also there, and I did consider making a plugin from it, but couldn’t be bothered.
It models 3D trees and anything else you can describe in a Lindemayer system. andnbsp;See my links page for examples if you want. andnbsp;http://users.belgacom.net/fcp/links.htm
It’s quite arcane and ageing a bit. andnbsp;It looks like the link to treemaker might do you better for 10 Euros. andnbsp;Also from .nl so might be related? andnbsp;I’ve seen other tree software – for example I have a free version of Vue d
esprit, that puts in some vegetation. andnbsp;Nothing gets close to 200 polygons though.
If you could think of a way to do leaves without making them individually, like painting them on blobs as I tried to do for my gum tree, one of the tree maker things might be useful for just the trunk. andnbsp;Perhaps.
Geo
Well I got a tree under 300 polyes,Texturing could like allways be better thought.
Just seen this – thought I would post here

don’t know if it is any good ….
Had a qick look at the trees: They look nice but are B3D format. I did a search on the web for a converter to any usable format but got no results. So if someone knows of such a converter I’d be glad to give it a try.
Although it says low-poly trees on the website I don’t know if the polycount of those trees isn’t way to high for MSTS
On their web site it says it can export to directx format
andquot;
[size=1:2wa06h6v]

Compile and export high detail – low poly trees for use in games development.
-) A robust collection of photo-realistic textures and mesh.
-) Included material to create approximately 3,000 types of trees!
-) Export and Save your creations and reedit them later.
-) Export models to popular formats such as DirectX .X and more!
-) Save trees to Blitz’s .B3d format for easy loading inside your projects.
-) Easy to use editor allows for building sophisticated tree layouts in just a few clicks.
-) All textures and tree mesh highly optimized for game usage while maintaining a high detail look.
-) Also plugs into other ‘Magik’ products and works as an addon. (ie: WORLDmagik)

I was just going off their blurb…..
(edit)
I downloaded the demo and only played for 10 mins or so (and didn’t read any instructions…) but I could not get it to export anything – x or b3d (maybe the demo will not export ? guess I will have to read the instructions <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt="" title="Sad" /><!– s:( –> )
One thing the program does do is use a semi transparant (sp?) texture for the leaves – this allows you to see the ones behind and helps with the 3d fx….
Yes, I read that. But I only would consider buying if the outcome would be sufficient for MSTS and as I understood the demo produces only *.b3d trees, I’d like to check these out.
