Rain on Cab effect

I’ve tried the new textures, with still no success.

We know these textures work for you, so must be ok. And I’ve checked and checked again my geo and bin files and all seems well there. Maybe, I have still made some silly mistake somewhere.

However, the only other thing I can think of is when I convert to Ace files. What settings do you use in Photoshop? I have already asked so much of you, but could you let me have your ace files (just the three for the windscreen). If they still don’t work for me, then at least we can eliminate textures as the problem.

I still get great hope from your success, to know that it can be done.

Richard

Hi Richard,
Today is your happy day <!– s;) –><!– s;) –>
So, I tried to type in "Slave To Animation" fields just like you did and my wipers stoped wiping out rain drops. Yor mistake is that you have writen [b:6jrumzz4]wiper[/b:6jrumzz4] and it must be [b:6jrumzz4]Wipers[/b:6jrumzz4]. Capital W and s at the end.

Regards
Vlado

Another try – this one seems to work better <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

I have a small problem with the 9.1 version, I was adding support for bones so I need to stop that from working first – almost there

Thanks Paul, it’s OK now.

Thank you Vlado and Paul. I shall look forward to trying this and hopefully having some success.

Richard

Vlado, you are a genius!! The rain is wiping away.

Imagine such a small mistake was holding me back. I am still using your textures, so now I need to get my own textures in there and also use Paul’s new exporter.

Thank you for all your patience and help.

Now – have you figured out the new wiper speed animation yet? <!– s:D –><!– s:D –>

Richard

Time to start playing around with the effect to get it right. I was having a problem with the ‘wipe’ not matching the movement of the wiper. Then I realised that it must be linked to the external wiper animation rather than the slave internal one. So it is obviously good practice to make sure the wiper animations are identical. I had been experimenting with the internal wiper animation, so it wasn’t the same as the main one. At least I can now clear enough rain to see through when I’m driving! <!– s:D –><!– s:D –>

Vlado, do you use graduated fill to create the wmotion black to white, or draw it manually with the spray tool and a mask?

Paul, the exporter is great and saves so much effort now, thank you very much. The only thing I still have to adjust is the weatherglass_1 material name. When I export it comes out with different numbers. However, its hardly an onerous task to edit one little thing. Will this now be the exporter available from your site if other people ask how to get the rain effect?

Cheers

Richard

OK – finally got around to finishing the 9.1 version (but not with bones just yet)

Also changed material name – fixed as weatherglass_1

Have Railworks fixed the animation "bumping" of con rods as child groups yet? If so I may have to give it another go some time soon – MS Flight is not due out for another year <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

Thanks Paul… Where is the plugin listed in the menus (The plugin was manually registered. I’m using W7 64 bit)? I tried one the one in the file menu "Railsimulator Intermediary Geometry etc…". but it must be the standard one.

Using some GeoPcDx edition, I got the effect below (I tried on 2 of the 4 windows).
The windows are too dark.
Is it because I didn’t set transparency to 100%? As I cannot change the transparency value in 3DC, which parameter can be changed in the GeoPcDx file?

Transparency is determined by alpha in your diff texture

It seems that I forgot some file copy at some time… Anyway, things are OK as far as textures principles are concerned.

I’m wondering if the wiper animation speed is free or if it has to follow a strict timing?

Rain effect working!
I made the export from 3DC as indicated by Vlado (thanks again!), edited the GeoPcDx file to add the missing texture line and chaned the material name to weatherglass_1. I based my textures on those from the BR101.

It’s the other way round: [b:389m36fc]white[/b:389m36fc] must be on the side of wiper blades while it’s still.

Hi Dom – have you got it in the pluginsimportexport folder? Version 9.1?
