Rain on Cab effect

This one may (or may not) export the weather effect shader correctly with a copy of the diff texture in the second slot <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

If it works, I’ll update the 9.1 exporter.

Thank you very much Paul. I will try it tonight.

I put texture in second slot and I got message of error and canvas crash.

Run-time error ‘5’:
Invalid procedure call or argument

Sorry Paul, that didn’t work, it crashed Canvas. (Edit: was posting this just as Vlado posted!)

It runs through the objects and when it gets to the weatherglass_1 object crashes and gives:

Runtime error 5
Invalid procedure, call or argument.

It would export a model without the TrainWeatherGlassEffect shader ok. I’ve reverted to the previous exporter and that doesn’t crash, so I can keep trying by manually editing the geo file.

Vlado, no luck with the new texture either, getting rain to wipe away.

This contains the textures and the Geopcdx file. Note, as I uploaded it earlier it still has the original PCCWinwmotion texture (not the one you sent me). If you do get a chance to look at it I would be very grateful. Thanks as always, to everyone for their time on this.

Regards

Richard

Richard, it seems OK with your files. Hmmm… try this…

1. Close Train Simulator 2012 and Blueprint editor completely every time when exporting new IGS from Canvas
2. From initial start-up screen Clear Cache
3. Open Blueprint editor and export your cab again

P.S. From Canvas, are you IGS export via Train simulator wizard or directly via Rail sim Geometry – New (.IGS) ? I used Rail sim Geometry – New (.IGS)

Hi Vlado

No luck I’m afraid. I’ve even tried competely uninstalling the model, clearing the cache and re-installing, but no luck.

Maybe I’ll wait for Paul’s next exporter and then try again. I do use the ‘new’ igs exporter and never the wizard.

Thank you anyway for all your efforts.

Richard

Hi Vlado, Richard, Paul et al,

I am eagerly following this topic since I am struggling as well with the WeatherEffects.
No real progress up to now. Using as well the 7.1.2 3DCanvas.
Paul, there might be another problem with the new Exporter, since even when I export the IGS correctly without the WeatherEffect glassses, the RW3 Editor doesn’t convert the IGS to GEO. Using the old exporter, everything is OK, except the WeatherEffects.

Best regards and I will keep trying after the new Exporter is available.

In Blueprint of engine in section &quot;Wiper pair&quot; it needs to be writen like on the picture. In fields of &quot;Slave to animation&quot; A and B needs to be writen name of your IA file (without extension). For example, my animation file is wipers.IA[/b:98y9x7rp]. I don’t know why A and B fields even exist.
[/quote:98y9x7rp]
This is rather an Animation set name. &quot;Slave to animation&quot; A holds the front animation set name and &quot;Slave to animation&quot; B holds the rear animation set name. In the case of the SD40, there is no rear wipers.

Could you please tell how to set/name the animation hierarchy?

For exemple for the front left wiper:
[code:98y9x7rp]1_0100_wiper01_l_part01
|__ 1_0100_wiper01_l_part02
| |_Object1_part02
| |_Object2_part02
|_ Object1_part01[/code:98y9x7rp]

… And is it necessary to create an interior animation? (can’t the exterior animation be seen from the cab?)

Hi Dom

This is how I set up my wipers for a tram that has a cab at only one end. There is an external animation, an internal animation (in the cab model) and a switch animation in the cab model . The animation ID is set higher up the blueprint an the anim section

Like you, I think the reference at WiperPairs is to the animation ID rather than the IA file, but stand to be corrected on that.

My weathergalss_1 model has been single sided (inside facing only) I assume that’s is correct as that’s all you can see in the cab.

No, if you have loco with animated wipers just delete all your objects except wipers, mirrors and windshield. On windsheald turn faces inside. Make cab on the same location where you have (probably simple) cab. When you are finished save your animation again in folder of new Cab. I think that the name of animation must have the same name as in engine folder.

I hope that you understand me because it’s hard to me write in English. <!– s:roll: –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!– s:roll: –>

I don’t think the name of the interior wiper animation matters. If you look at my screenshot above from my engine blueprint, the interior wiper animation is a slave output of the main wiper, which has the animation id. This is all a subgroup of the Control Value [b:30j84gcz]wipers[/b:30j84gcz], which is what links it to the [b:30j84gcz]V[/b:30j84gcz] key to make it work.

So making the exterior wipers work, automatically makes the interior ones work. And you can link a cab button or lever to these as well, as I’ve done. The interior animation and the switch don’t need to be added to the animations listed further up in your blueprint. Only the main exterior animation has to be listed there, so it can have an animation id.

Thanks Vlado for the screenshot of the hierarchy.

Thanks RichardScott and Vlado for the explanations.
It makes clear to me on how to link the interior animation with the exterior animation.
From my understanding, it is necessary to make 3 animations : exterior front, exterior back, interior… Unless, for the interior you use the kind of trick explained by Vlado.
But it’s a bit too late for me as the cab is fully created… just missing the wipers animation.

I put all colors of the normal textures to see effect on raindrops. At high speed, rain drops slipping to side. Can you see connection between colors and raindrops in ride? Now I see that the fade from one to another color may give nice effect on edges of windshield. I will try that. <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –>

Here is effect on left side of windshield…
