Alternative Rail Simulator Export

Not currently doing any RW stuff (still only have RS) – just supporting the plugins these days.

7.1.2.0 should be the version everyone uses. It has a few fixes even in the standard export plugins.

I generally post updates to the brinkster website of the blog download – the one on this thread has a minor update that doesn’t affect many people.

The IGS exporter is available for 8.0.0.1 but a lot of my plugins don’t yet work for 8 and Richard has not finished updating his set, so it’s currently very difficult to use 8 for train stuff.
Maybe next update.
Stick with 7.1.2.0 for now.

Thanks Paul, much apprecited.

Hi Paul.

From one of your posts on Uktrainsim.

‘TrainGlass.fx was fixed for railworks and requires a base texture and env map.
3 optional parameters in the railsimX custm field:
r0arg0 = specular exponent
r0arg1 = reflection intensity
r0arg2 = reflection illumination’

I have no problem with the 2 textures but ingame the result of the shader is the same as blendatexdiff.
I have tried the 3 parameters but nothing has changed. <!– s:? –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!– s:? –>

It should work with RailSimX set to

r0arg0=64;r0arg1=0.8;r0arg2=0.4

However I suspect you may need to update the railsim export plugin.

Make sure you have the RSIGS2.DLL from page 4 of this topic version 1.0.107 5th April (?)

If you are using vista you will need to re-register the dll.

I’d be interested to hear if it works (as I don’t have RW to test it)

My testbed. A slim cube with trainglass.fx and one of my 3D windows with the classic BlendaTexDiff inside RW.

It’a a little too bright but now i can test all the combination i want. <!– s8-) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8-)" title="Cool" /><!– s8-) –>

Greetings

Ok.. i have found out why is sooo bright.
r0arg0=64;r0arg1=0.8;r0arg2=0.4
Inside the GeoPcDx 64 is 64 but 0.8 becomes 8.0 and 0.4 becomes 4.0

I have manually set the values of the 3 arguments inside the geopcdx file and now the effect is correct. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

I’ll check my end for bugs. I suspect you can actually leave the RailSimX field blank and it will use those values by default (in the shader code)

r0arg0=64;r0arg1=0.8;r0arg2=0.4 with points -andgt; 0.8 = 8.0 inside the geopcdx file

r0arg0=64;r0arg1=0,8;r0arg2=0,4 with commas -andgt; 0,8 = 0.8 inside the geopcdex file <!– s8-) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8-)" title="Cool" /><!– s8-) –>

Now i have to solve a new case of ‘error 9’… but this time isn’t a name problem.
Are there other limitation similar to the size of the name of the group? (with the basic exporter i have no problem.)

Thanks.

You say to use the plug in dated 5th April, version 1.0.107, but 10 posts down on that same page is version 1.09 dated 14th April.
Is the earlier version the better/right version?

Any version after 1.0.107 will have support for the trainglass (and waterbump) shaders in railworks.
These were the only 2 new shaders over rail sim.
Newer versions should have minor fixes as the program is quite stable now.

OK! Thanks! I wasn’t sure if I should revert back to the earlier version or not as I’m using the 109 version.

Hi

What exactly does the exporter in the first part of the process when it checks all the 1_1000_groups? My ‘error 9’ problem lies there…

In the mean time i have found a way to use trainglass.fx with the classic exporter <!– s8-) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8-)" title="Cool" /><!– s8-) –>

i’m trying to use ‘new-RailSim geometry’ (109) to export my objects but i have a problem related to the bump map.
The exporter simply ignores it…and that texture is never exported.
I don’t have this issue using the TrainsimWizard.

The bump map is only exported if the shader contains the word ‘Bump’ (case must match exactly) e.g. TrainBumpEnv.fx

Do you have any group names or RailSim custom group parameters set as 1_1000_xxxx? and are you using the auto LOD function?
