a few questions

Nice one Blayd – I’ve just tried it using an inverted sphere and it appears to work well.

I knew it had to be something simple <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

and without the no_reflection command….

(just noticed Blayd, 6 – 7 days for a render what on earth are you doing – and is that on a 486 dx4 100 or what ?) <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

Hi Alan,

No, my system isnt that old, LOL but might as well be.( my system is four years old, very slow, with very limited Ram.I havent started putting together the new system yet.) The 6 or 7 day scene has alot of trees, reeds, and grass in it, different types. Using the ‘maketree’ macros and TOMTREE includes. Trees are very large in memory size so I think I might be very close , if not over my RAM size.I’ve learned to use a single mesh and call it repeatedly, but still, it takes alot of memory. Add radiosity to that, running Win98, and its basically crawling. We’ll see. <!– s:? –><!– s:? –>

Korben,
You can leave the background in POV as Black. Add a sky_sphere in a simple blue or green color, then chromakey out the color of the sky_sphere. The sky_sphere would still be there, but would be transparent. What I don’t know is whether or not the background still being there would have adverse effects. I tried using a simple blue texture on the background and POV didn’t seem to like it at all.

Les

Might he also want to set the ambient value of his no_reflection inverted sphere to a higher value that would remove any shadowing from light sources? As in [b:3vfpb8xz]Alan[/b:3vfpb8xz]’s first picture with the purple BG, it’s darker to the left than at the bottom right. Is it preferable to have a key BG that’s an even shade?
