6.0 Revision 4 Available

Addendum: The Sequel-

Hierarchies can’t be scaled. When I right-click and Select Hierarchy, then click on the Scale operation, the parameter box does not appear.

I had to manually rescale 12 objects, which could have been a headache if it weren’t for the fact that they only needed to be scaled along an axis that wouldn’t affect the location of their pivot points. I can see potential problems in the future without the ability to scale entire hierarchies to an arbitrary level of precision.

My 6.0 project is coming along rather nicely. I’ll post a render as soon as it’s finished. You can stick it in the Gallery or wherever you feel like.

Mel,

I found the cause for your andquot;Compact Allandquot; and andquot;click layerandquot; redraw issues and have corrected them for the next revision. Nice to see someone putting subdivision surfaces through the wringer.

The andquot;Scale Hierarchyandquot; works best if you use the right-click andquot;Scale To Sizeandquot; or andquot;Scale By Amountandquot;. If you just apply the operation it will use whatever is currently the default for the scale operation. I don’t think I have a solution to that (or ever will).

Richard

Great.

I didn’t even think of the right-click menu, hehe….

Boy, this 6.0 model I’m working on is a pretty tough stress test for 3DC. It’s 20,000+ triangles and it’s only about three-quarters finished. I’ve used almost all of the critical operations, almost all of the object building tools, and basically used the whole toolbox.

Today’s worklist involves some hot and heavy Boolean action, and I’ll let you know how that goes.

So far, I’ve only had those few bugs I mentioned earlier in this thread. This is while working on one of those lowest-bidder OEM budgetwonder computers, which is pretty amazing if you ask me. 6.0’s a really solid contender for serious modeling, and I’m pleasantly surprised at how well it’s standing up to the abuse I’ve been putting it through.

Hey Bojoe,
Listen, after uninstalling 3DC, go into your drive and remove the 3DC folder. 3DC used to leave a folder in your drive, even after an unistall. This could cause a problem when re-installing. Delete the folder before re-installing. ( Does 3DC still leave a folder Richard? or was this delt with in the latest version? ) As Richard said, make sure ALL of 3DC is uninstalled before re-installing. let us know what you get <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>

I just installed this revistion now nothing works this software is bunk !!!!!!!!!!!1 ]:(

You got to have this you got to do that what the heck did i just give you people $70.00 for! i am so dang mad

Bojoe,
We have to know what the problems are your having to help you. Almost everybody here has had some issues at one time or another , but they are usually resolved pretty easily and pretty quickly. There are alot of very talented people here with alot of programming experience, and graphics experience. If you only knew how bad of a time I was having with getting things up to speed, it would make your head spin. I am not running rev.4, because rev 3 is running so well, I dont see the need to upgrade yet. You might want to go back to rev3. if your having problems, post them….it will benefit everybody.

Bojoe,

I would recommend uninstalling all 3DC related entries in the Control Panel’s andquot;Add/Remove Programsandquot; and re-installing.

Also I would recommend politely asking for assistance.

Richard

Richard:
I have uninstalled 3ds 6.0 revision 3 and installed 3dc 6.0 revision 4 exactely as as discribed in the read-me file. And now I have discovered that the UnWrap dosent work either. :'(

It sounds to me like perhaps the LP/Pro upgrade for 6.0 rev 4 may not have been installed. Or perhaps the previous version wasn’t uninstalled before installing the new version?

Richard

Richard:

I have just installed 3dc 6 revision 4 but now the twist operation doesn t work andnbsp;:'(

And you installed the LP/Pro upgrade downloaded from the Help menu of 6.0.0.4? The symptom you describe sounds like the wrong LP/Pro upgrade being installed. Perhaps you didn’t uninstall the LP/Pro upgrade as well as 3DC?

Richard
