3DC 4.23 Beta 1 Available

1) The next beta will include new versions of the targa loading software. Hopefully this will help.

2) The merging is likely the cause. Unfortunately this is beyond my control since this is handled by DirectX. Hopefully DirectX 9 (or 8b) will fix this. It is a known problem with DirectX.

3) I’ll have a look at this

4) I’ll have a look at this

5) It doesn’t clean up all temporary files. Some temporary files are not tracked so they can’t be removed.

6) Can’t comment on this one. Sorry. Perhaps someone who knows MSTS better will know.

Richard

Richard, Some people complained that when they tried to run 3DC 4.23 beta, their computer beeped and nothing happened. I thought that I have 3DC 4.22 but some people have 3DC older than 4.22 and 3DC 4.23 beta won’t run on their computers. I opened a DOS window and entered andquot;3DC /?andquot; at the DOS prompt to get a list of parameters but my computer beeped and nothing happened. Jeffrey.

3DC isn’t a DOS program so what you did won’t be of any use.

It could be that some people will have to wait for the full installation (17 MBs). andnbsp;I don’t know why.

Richard

Richard, I downloaded 3DC 4.22 from a web site, removed my copy of 3DC 4.22, installed new copy of 3DC 4.22, copied 3DC 4.23 files to their folders, and ran 3DC 4.23 without any problems. When I right-clicked on 3DC.EXE files for 4.22 and 4.23, and chose PropertiesVersionProduct Version, I got 4.02.0002 and 4.02.0003 for 3DC 4.22 and 3DC 4.23. Jeffrey.

Good to hear that you got it going. Those versions look correct to me.

Richard, I ran into a few problems:

1. I have problems loading *.TGA files created by Paint Shop Pro 7.02 into 3DC 4.23. Program had weird problems while loading *.TGA files and I thought that program crashes.

2. Trying to create *.S files that have distance levels causes program to stop responding. The objects have been merged into one object.

3. If the *.3DC files have long filenames and I create *.S files, the program shortens the filename to DOS 8.3 format.

4. Program caused illegal operation in a Direct3D file while I’m painting faces with the Paintbrush tool.

5. Program didn’t clean up temporary files after crashing. I’m not sure if program didn’t clean up temporary files after I choose not to recover the scene.

6. When I create *.S files, I thought that objects sank into the ground plane (the grid) but when the objects are inserted into MSTS routes, the objects are not sank into the ground.

Jeffrey.
