2048 x 2048 textures

Has anyone had any luck using 2048 textures, and if so can you give us a hint how… please
I am trying to sort a loco for someone and they have used 2048 textures, (Model imported from lightwave) and I an having all sorts problems getting the model into RS wilth them. His Normal textures (Bump) are the same size. Also he has them named as #####_nrm_nm which I understand is No compression. His main 2048 textures are also NM No compression

Anyone with some idea where things may be going wrong.

Shaders were TrainBumpSpecEnvMask.fx but I have changed these to remove the Spec and taken the Spec textures out
