3DC 4.23 Release Candidate

Indi, I can’t replicate andnbsp;your crash. I cut a face, pasted it back in and could move both pieces fine.

I dunno (I am not a professional beta-tester either – this just seemed simple to reproduce — unlike MOST beta-test questions). ???

Unless there is a pretty big bug found this should be final version, though right now it is just a andquot;Release Candidateandquot;.

Richard

Also, I would love to add the M7 to the gallery when you think it is andquot;doneandquot;.

And since you brought up the subject of Abacus. I didn’t see anything about LOD, nor did I see anything about animation (beyond getting wheels to roll around). I’m curious to see what they do about both.

Richard

I actually have it flipping the TGA on purpose. I tested with the TGA files provided in the andquot;Samplesandquot; folder. Maybe they are accidentely inverted (wrong) in the Samples folder. I’ll have to look at it in more detail to confirm what is andquot;correctandquot;.

Richard

Some very useful features added there, excellent work, beating the Abacus product to the post (I have not seen anything mentioned in their blurb about LOD support).

I have successfully built a new model (just a simple dumper truck) with 4.23, and appreciate the creation of the .s file in Unicode format and cutting and pasting values in the Properties dialogue box, thanks.

I then imported my M7 steam locomotive, in the hope that the transparency problems ATI card users are experiencing might be resolved, but the texture mapping was all a bit strange. I opened the .tga files in the materials palette, but the mask appeared to be a negative of the actual mask (ie. black where it should be white, and vice versa). I guess I am doing something wrong.

As an aside (maybe) I have found out the the flight simmers use a little utility DXTBMP to sort out .tga files produced by Paint Shop Pro. ([img:2ir6yi0a]http://www.mnwright.freeserve.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm[/img:2ir6yi0a]

)
I tried it, and it produced useable .ace files, but the problem is still there. However, the mask is completely garbled if I load one of these ‘modified’ .tga files into 3DC.

I have not had a chance to play with the LOD or the other goodies yet though.

Ok i have crashed twice trying to attempt this.

i made a cube and placed it in the scene.

I selected one face and cut it

I pasted this back into the scene.

Then when i try to move the object with the objects navigation tool on the right hand side of the display area it crashes bad.

Is this me doing something incorrect or is this a buggy wuggy <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>?

Im downloading now will get back to you after a playtest <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

I can’t reproduce it either.

try and use the object handle in the right hand corner to rotate that plane. thats when it crashes for me.
