Having great progress with my next race game. Except for the racer models, everything else is being built with 3DC.  Textured with PSP. Making the tracks were a b*tch...but I got it done! Smile

Thanks folks, the screen shot is still early...and I'm sorta rushing to finish it for the tech demo contest for 3DRAD.  Thats why it looks kinda dirty.  I will improve on the track texturing and model.  I will post a demo by the 22nd of Sept...contest deadline!

Its not a prob mate Smile

Well...... after downloading your game and running it, here is my feedback.

1.  The model is quite nice and is adequate for the game design.

2. The computer players are a little too "perfect". They almost always hold the line and never crash or bump.

3. While it is nice to "slide" around corners, the main problem is that your vehicle "floats" a tad too much.

Improvements:

1. The computer controlled cars/bikes need to exhibit human tendency's... IE:  they need to make "mistakes".
Also, when you bump them it would be nice if they came out of the bump worse on occasion. You could do this by letting the computer check for your speed and their speed and make a decision based on that as to who gets knocked worse.  You can of cause 'zone' the bikes, so that if you hit one from the left/right behind you will be much more likely to push then away into a spin, than if you hit then on their left/right side.

2. The game music (while nice) is a bit too big and I suggest that you use one of the old 'Abandonware' tunes from, say, Supercars or ridge racer etc etc etc from the Amiga..... They are small, but sound great for a race game.

3. When you hit a side, instead for just stopping or bouncing... Try and slow the bike down proportional to the length of time it is hitting the barrier.  So, a 10% speed reduction for every .5 of a second would mean that it would take on average, 30 to 50% off the bikes speed by the time the average player gets away from the barrier.

4. Sort out the 'floating' on your bike. Add a variable to the program that will slow the bike given the angle and speed you take the corner at.

Well mate I hope that helps.... Its a good game and you did well....... Now polish it up and it should rock.

LOL! Thanks for your input! That demo was a while back....for a 3DRAD contest.  I sorta rushed to finish it so yah...I am quite aware of ALL the bugs and problems from the start. Don't worry...about 95% of all those bugs have been removed....yes inlcuding the bouncy problems...AI cars....one lap bug...ALL OF THEM.  Music...well...I just stuck that one there for the hell of it. I already have some of my own tunes I made lined up. But thanks for the input! Stay tune for the next demo....
