1) I noticed that the rendering is a lot darker than the image in 3DC. Any clue to solve this?
2) I made a locomotive with no interior yet. So through the window, as it is in 3DC, I should see through the invisible side of the opposite face. With povray rendering, I see the visible side of the face which should be seen only if I was looking from the other side.
The one thing I can think of with POVRay is you do have to set up your lighting before rendering. There's a couple of mentions of this in the forums here and Paul Gausden has done some beautiful render effects that you should be able to read about here with a little searching.
