Okay, first attempt at showing off some of my efforts. This is a partially finished P-51D, hopefully I'll be able to add the invasion livery for the 317th FG out of North Africa.

Looking nice. Smile We don't seem to have many aircraft modellers on the forum, so this is something different. I keep meaning to give it a try myself.... maybe one day.

Did you ever take a look here...
www.caffeineoverdose.net/
You need the 3D Model Gallery section for the aircraft, and everything is the work of just one person, models, textures the lot!! Amazing.
You can double click the thumbnails for a larger image.

Thanks for the compliment.

Caffeine Overdose is a great site, I wish I had half the talent he does.

I've been an airplane enthusiast since I was a little fellow. I can remember when the T-33 was the F-80.. that dates me Smile.

Definitely not enough aircraft - I look forward to seeing the finished product.

I too have been keen to have a go, but getting all the cross sections right always worried me (I was going to write a plugin to help out)

I'll stick with trains for the moment.

I use some 3 view drawings I found with the help of bazza and 3d buzz. they contain the cross section diagrams, but with a 3 view drawing, you can just use the side and top view and get the proportions right.

For a large selection of blueprints, land, air and sea, take a look here...
http://www.suurland.com/

No railway items unfortunatly but lots of aircraft, ships and cars.

The link courtesy of Fredborg over on the Gile[s] site.

This is the second stage of my little project. I'm beginning to think it would have been easier to do just half the model and then clone it and mirror it.

Top side.

Is there a way that I can post a bit larger view? What do I need to do to accomplish that?

Let me know what y'all think. Thanks.

This is starting to look better, a bit more like a plane now it's got wings. Smile

To post a larger image take a screenshot from 3dc and save it out as myplane.bmp. Load this into a paint programm and change it to a .jpg image with a file size of less than 80k.
Then use the Attachment feature to attach the image to your post.

Thanks for the feedback and tip, bazza. I appreciate both. By the way, I also appreciate the links you provided me in the past. I've been able to locate some excellent 3 view drawings of aircraft at Airwar. That's a russian site with a bunch of aircraft drawings from the Wright Flyer up to modern aircraft. Again, I appreciate all the assistance you've provided me.

Lookin' good, Richard Smile
I know it will look great when finnished.
Back later to check progress.

James.

ps: I know this is not the place to mention this, but has any one checked out the competition on www.cgnetworks.com.
The prizes are the best and the enteries are amazing. I followed the last comp - MachineFlesh - This ones "Grand Space Opera".
I have learned alot of 3D stuff from this Site.
Well worth checking I think.

See you all later
