Still a long way to go before I'm happy with this one. Windows still need an alpha channel.

I was going to say fantastic but I think a better description would be Woooooooow... Big Grin

All the detail you've included plus the great textures make this a remarkable piece of work.

We'll have to see if Richard can up the ratings. Five stars isn't enough for this one.

Any chance of a view of the bogie detail?

How long has it taken so far?

I'll know where to turn for advice if I ever get round to building my US version of the Port Daniel Railroad. Wink

Great work!!

Bazza

Many thanks for the kinds words Bazza. I'll post a shot of one of the bogies for you when I get home from work tonight. Its been an on and off project from around four months, but I guess in real time spent on it I'd say around 250-300 hours. I know, I'm a real slow poke Big Grin

Hi V_F,

That really is a great piece of modelling with nice textures. It looks just like the real thing and you can't get better than that. Smile

Thank you for the compliment. It took me ages to model the bogies as they are very complex, but they needed to be done in order to give them depth and realism. Smile

Here is a link to details on the real life prototype.
http://locopage.railpage.org.au/qr/4000.html

The engine is based on SD70MAC technology and has a tunnel motor section which you can see on my model is covered by an alpha channel mesh allowing you to see the fully modeled engine components contained within. Although they are covered by protective side panels to keep the elements out as much as possible.

These look very good. I'd be no good at trains though - my attention span for a model is about 2 hours Smile

Any chance of some wire/outline shots of (what I now know to be called) the bogies ? How much is model and how much is texture ?

No wonder it takes so long - I don't think I could do anything like that. Thanks for the shots, I am amazed and impressed at how much detail you train guys put into your models.

Thank you Alan. The main problem I have is that I'm too fussy and have to make sure each part is exactly like the prototype. I usually go overboard on the detail as well, but I like pushing the game engine for Train Simulator as far as it will go.
