I'm still using 5.7.
All of sudden I'm getting regrouping of objects when I open a previoiusly saved 3DC file. No, I should say the groups are rearranged in the hierarchy. The objects that I created before saving are moved to the top of the hierarchy, to the top above the point light. They appear when you open the scene and disappear when you move the mouse. I have to ungroup and move the object(s) down the hierarchy. This is a pain and I don't know why it started doing that. ONE MORE QUESTION There seems to be need to buy an upgrade if you've been using Pro version for longer than a certain date in 2002? I'd love to give you money, honest... you deserve money. I don't want to even try to load version 6 until I'm sure it will not cause any grief. I'm using the product for critical uses.. don't need any hang-ups. Please advise. Thanks, Tom |

3D Canvas does re-order items in the hierarchy as it sees fit. Nothing that I can do about that really. But, the order in which the objects appear in the hierarchy shouldn't cause the objects to dissappear. You might want to check that the "Visible Objects" button is "pushed". It is on the main (top) toolbar around the center.
You can certainly continue to use 3D Canvas 5.7 or 5.7a as long as you want. There is no requirement to upgrade obviously. If you are happy with 5.7 there is absolutely no need to upgrade. I think 6.x (6.0/6.1/6.2) may well be worth the $34.95 upgrade fee for many people. The main benefit I think is that the modelling process is faster in 6.0 than in 5.7a. Hopefully the majority of the 6.0 bugs have been shaken out now with the release of 6.0 revision 1. Richard |
