I had this scene render many times at 160x120, I didn't change the textures but went to a larger picture. The textures are in the media/texture file, POV is set to no i/o restrictions, I even put the textures AND the scene into the include file of POV_Ray. I've changed my video driver 3 times [getting tired of that ] nothing seems to work. Now it won't even render in  160x120.I think it's because it's not a 3DC texture-does this mean I need to resize the 3DC textures to 200x200 if I want to use them as a height map ?

Hi KB,
I could be wrong but I don't believe the size of the texture is the problem. If you are creating your height maps in 3DC, then adding textures, it could be that PovRay simply doesn't understand what to do with the textures when rendering. You may have to apply a texture_map(PovRay syntax) to your 3DC height map, so that Pov understands how to render it.

There is a section in the Pov help files that covers texture_mapping. I understand the principle behind the process, but I haven't actually tried it either in 3DC or PovRay, so you may get better help or info from one of the other folks here.

Hope this is of some help,
Les
