Hi Rob,
I've learned to avoid it.
I asked the same question awhile back and have learned to select the 'items' I want to move then use the gizmos in the right hand corners to do all the moving with then fine adjust with coordinate numbers.

Here's the thread I asked the same question in;

Hope all this helps...

Thanks Rick.

I need to be able to change the axis of an object. When i rotate the object the axis moves with it & i need to reajust the axis back into the original position.

I have been messing around with Blitz 3d & created a quick model of a plane a while ago & the axis is all out of whack.
when i import the model into blitz the model is facing vertical instead of horizontal so i need to change the axis of it so it faces the right direction.

Thanks for the help.

My above advice is how I do it. You can also go into 'properties' and flip it on any axis you want too. I do it this way, also.

Hi Rob,

If I'm reading your second post correctly, I believe you need to run the script NormalizeSelectedGroup. (If you don't have this script, check this thread.)

After rotating the object, select it and run the above script. The axis will be reset to the orginal orientation. Hope this helps.

Hi Rob,
This is how I would do it, but it depends a bit on how much the axis is screwwed up.
First set the axis so it is rotated correctly, forget about the model for now. You can do this in the model properties, set xyz rotation to zero.
Next make sure you sure in Edit using Object Coords on the top toolbar, select the model and use the Shift operation (not th Shift Tool) to rotate the model around the axis.
