???
I have number of drawings in AutoCad LT2000 format. I have tried eporting these in DXF format but cannot seem get any thickness to the shapes when they arrive in 3DC. If you imagine a drawings of a pipe with 1/4" thick walls only the outer surface of the wall seems to appear in 3DC and the inner surface does not appear. ANy ideas ?? ??? In hope Logikman |

In 3dc you have an option to render both sides of a face (under tools/options/device put a tick into the box).... if this shows the pipes inner faces then is looks like the inner faces are facing outwards and you can then invert the inner faces to get them facing the right way...
Only a guess as I have never used autocad (can you see the end of the pipe ?) |

Yes, I would guess that would do it. The other option is to "invert the normals" of the model during export. Or, use the "Invert" operation of 3D Canvas after import.

Thanks that works fine... Now I cannot get the ends of the pipes to fill in ie: I get the two outer walls but no thickness surface. The profiles I am importing are fairly complex mixtures of 2D lines and curves (created in Autocad). If I use the SOLIDify I just seem to a whole mess of lines. Is there a way of putting a solid surface on the profile (ie: if it was a pipe - to create the surface of the pipe walls at the ends on the pipe ?) ??? |

Were the ends there before ?
What did you do - invert the whole model or just the inner face ? Did you turn on render both sides ? |
