How is the skeliton movement controlled so that the movement only occurs in the YZ axis or the XY axis? When I try to control these movements using the "Object Properties" Window I still get movement in the axis I don't want and not in the Axis I do want.

Is it a standard 3DC skelton you are using...if so try this....
On the top toolbar select Edit using object coordinates.
Select the bone you want to rotate, position the mouse curser over the green pointer on the Move/Scale/Rotate gizmo bottom right hand corner of the display, hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse left or right...the bone should rotate around it's y axis only.
Same goes for the x and z axis on the Move/Scale/Rotate gizmo.

It is great quick tips like these that I would like to consolidate and write up for the wiki (attributing to their authors of course ^_^)
