Hi All,

This is the first poll on the new and improved forums.

I will be using this poll to decide on priorities for 6.0.

Wink hi Richard , i think all of the above but

particularly i have  a suggestion on animation :

for example when you animate objects, i wish the object wouldnt start moving at the get go  example:

zooming in on table with quarter on it, when you get to a closeup of the quarter, id like it to move then, but currently it moves little by little from frame 1

also wanted to say , i like the new look of the forum!!

keep up the very good work!!

David

Richard,

I'm for all of the above, however I selected the improved modeling features as the focus for the poll. I would have chosen improved u-v unwrapping as a second.  Your discussion on a separate thread about improvements to the extrusion process even beyond 5.5 Rev 4 support my choice.

Richard,
I would also have chosen all the above, well except for number 7 of course.. ;D

Good luck with v6.0 and keep up the great work!

In the improved modeling section I would like to see object to object manipulations. Like moving a cone on a cylinder by using the center of the cone's round face on the cylinder's top round face.

Hmmm, I wonder how people expect Richard to prioritize when everyone says All of the above. ???

You have my vote for what I's prefer most... I'm glad you asked.

hi,

I really can't imagine what the people voting for better modeling tools ask for. It seems to me that Canvas already has a lot of good modeling tools. It covers low-poly modeling, SDS modeling, CSG modeling, patch modeling and it includes a lot of other extras tools as well. So what ???.

As for me, I voted better uv tools. Of course I suppose each user can vote one time only..

A better skeletal system would be nice as well, but nobody voted for it yet. I fear this is because very few people actually use it. This is somewhat a shame since skeletal softskin animation is a great Canvas feature, and it could be enhanced to reach the top standards of the market ;D.

bye Smile, Alex

Alex/All,

I am leaning towards better modelling tools myself. I think the tools that exist already are quite good (if I do say so myself), but I think one more revision would fulfill my "vision" for the 3DC modelling tools.

But, if the poll points another direction, I will go that direction. That's what the poll is for.

Richard,

I think that your proposed approach is the correct one.  Once you are satisified that your vision for the modeling tools has been achieved, then you will have established a genuine baseline.  As much as I like having everything in a tool box, its generally true that my choices would be different than someone else's.  It all depends on what one uses 3DC for.  Your poll is a good idea, and depending on the results, it can provide a roadmap for future feature enhancement.  Thanks again for all the effort you have put into 3DC.
