I am having a problem whenever I try to use a .tga texture with an ace file. Whenever I go to select the texture in the material editor the program crashes with an error code of 3420.

It says "An unrecoverable error has occured. If you continue to receive this message please contact Amabilis at support@amabilis.com. (#3420)" and that's it. I'm running v6.6.02.

There is definately something wrong there. You should be able to select the texture regardless of the format as long as it is supprted by 3DC.

The .tga file is not corrupt is it ?
Does 3DC do this with files that are .jpeg or .bmp ?

Send me a PM and I'll give you my email that you can send the suspect file as an attachement so I can see if the actual texture file is at fault or if it is 3DC. Smile

I've also been having this problem, but I found a way to get around it. I always get the 3420 error if I click on a .tga in the texture library immediately after selecting the material panel. I don't get the error if I click on the white texture in the upper left of the texture library and then click on the .tga texture. Once the .tga texture has been selected everything works correctly.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I'm running 6.5.0.5 Pro Edition and tried Doug's suggestion but everytime I click on a tga texture I get the 3420 error message. What's strange is that I don't remember ever getting that error before (I've changed PCs since then and reloaded the software). The TGA files that are causing this problem were created on PSP 6 and PSP 9.

Any help?

Regards

Paul

Are you sure your TGA's are not accidently being saved in compressed mode by PSP? Double check your TGA save options.

I "just" upgraded to PSP 9 and I had a similar problem problem till I told PSP to save in the correct format.

I thought that might be the problem - I did check the last tga file I created and it was compressed. I resaved as uncompressed but when I try to select in the materials palette it still crashes 3DC. I wondered if the tga file in the materials pallete is still the old one but I can't delete it because everytime I select it, it crashes the prog!

You might have something Doug. I tried to duplicate this and couldn't. I think I will play around with it and see if I can duplicate the problem.

Well, I've tried updating my graphics driver but can't load any TGA file any more into 3DC - including those I'd previously loaded in successfully. I've changed PC since then so all I can assume is there is some weird incombatability between my current configuration and 3DC Frown

I sent you an email about this (at least I assume it was you), but it could be that the "Pro Upgrade" does not match the version of 3D Canvas installed. I would suggest uninstalling both 3D Canvas and the Pro Upgrade. After you do that re-install version 6.5.1.0 and enter your license code. Then download (and install) the pro upgrade from the help menu.
