Since 'new' to this 3d Canvas stuff, from what I understand in TS Wizard, the maximum amount of 'drivers', to list is eight - making it only capable of designing a 'Northern' Class loco (4-8-4), as the maximum sized steamer available, to create in Canvas...
Or did I miss something?  Is the program capable of creating something larger then a 4-8-4?
Thanks, E D
PS.  The program appears to be quite 'awesome', Mr. Borsheim, and so far I have been enjoying it...Except for afew 'glitches' now and then.  Have you thought of a means/way of exporting/importing Train Modeler items over...or vice-a-versa.  PSS.  Am not to sure if this is the place to post my query, this 'forum' stuff is all still pretty new.

Do you mean like a 4-10-4 or something similar? Or a 4-8-8-4? You can do both. But you have to be a bit tricky.

To make a 4-10-4:

1) Run the train simulator wizard and select 4-2-4.
2) This will ask you to identify the "front" wheels. Instead of selecting the front drive wheels select the rear drive wheels. it will name and animate them for you.
3) Manually rename the group for these drive wheels from "Wheels1" to "Wheels5". Save your work.
4) Run the wizard again selecting 4-8-4. It will ask you to select the first four sets of drive wheeels. When it asks you to select the "rear" wheels. These are actually the "rear" wheels EXCLUDING the ones identified previously.

That should do it. It's easier than it sounds.

I believe to create a 4-8-8-4 or something similar you have to effectively create two engines and link them together using a consist. But don't hold me to that. I just THINK that is how it is done.

As for creating a TSM import.... I'm not sure if I should or not. It would be fun to do though. I won't be exporting to TSM cause I can't think of one reason anyone would want to do that.

I agree that there's no reason anyone should export their Canvas projects to TSM, and I don't think you should work on an importer either.  As I understand it, there is or will be a commercial version of TSM available for significant cost that I think provides .3ds import/export capabilities, permission to use models commercially, etc.  I think they'd be pretty upset if someone created a less expensive workaround, so given the cost of lawsuits these days it probably wouldn't be worth the trouble (or the fun)  :Smile .

I can see they would be annoyed. Smile I'll say no more on the subject.  :-X

Thanks for the information, and I'll give it a shot with the 'renaming' format.  Yes, I'm interested in anything larger then a Nothern Class.  And I see, after thinking about it, the conversion issue...Could result in alot of headaches.   E D
