Hi,I wondered if any one could throw some light on a small problem,with the train simulator wizard.
The version of 3d canvas i have got is,6.5.0.10,i have the pro version,i have just made a model,of a diesel loco,and i run the wizard,to put the loco,into the trainset folder,it puts it in,no problem.
The cabview folder is there,the sound folder is there,and the s,and sd file is there,also the engine file is there.
The problem is,when i go into the engine file,all i have got,is this.

I would be very gratefull,if some one,could tell me,as to why,the full default cab,is not being created,in the engine file.

I have the same result using 7.02 (pro). I've been playing around with my model, swapping textures, turning the body round and having a laughably dim moment with the 'placeholders' for the 'head-out' view and smoke positions, so I'd assumed that there was something about the model detail or hierarchy that the wizard didn't like. I've side-stepped this for the time being by copying an edited .eng file from another model. I haven't got as far as the cabview yet, but I have got a working model Smile. The colours in MSTS don't look right though, so I'm back to fiddling around some more..........

As was expected, it was a bug in the Wizard.

It expects wheels to be named using the MSTS convention. When they're not it fails creating the engine file.

If you run the wizard and identify your wheels using the wizard it will complete properly. But, in the case of the model I looked at, it asks some weird questions. I guess it isn't expecting a bogieless diesel. It asks to identify the "wheels of the front bogie" and then the "wheels of the rear bogie". These are just the front wheels, and rear wheels respectively.

Hi Richard

Thanks for clarifying that.

I'm a little puzzled about the naming convention for the wheels - I'd used Paul Gausden's 'engineer' plug-in to generate the chassis. This named the groups of wheels and axles as as 'Wheels1', 'Wheels2' and 'Wheels3' and earlier attempts at exporting just the .S file worked OK in MSTS.

When using the wizard and pointing at the wheels, it changes the names to Wheels11 and wheels21 ( or something like that) and the animation of the connecting rod comes out wrong.

This may well be related to my having ( I think) created the model facing the wrong direction initially and turning the body round.

If I run the wizard without pointing at the wheels, the export seems OK - other than the issue with the .eng file as above, but I have a working .eng file anyway so it's not a big deal for me at present.

I still have much to learn.......... Roll Eyes
