Have a question on animations with Traiz...

I am finishing up the modeling of an Amtrak Horizon coach, and so far everything seems to be working fine. The only thing i am having an issue with is animation speeds. Basically, i am animating the doors and traps on the car, and while the animation does work ok enought, it runs too fast. I have tried a few different options, but the animations haven't slowed down.

Does anyone know what might be the "correct" combination of key frames and frames per second? Also, what i am doing is hitting the Animate button, then moving ahead a few key frames and opening the doors all the way. When i step-by-step it, it looks fine - each key frame i advance the doors only open a little bit more each time. However, i am not SPECIFICALLY setting each of those - does that make a difference?

Any help's appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Buzz,

Oops - I forgot about this one
Animations will always normalize to 1 second - this is for wheel animations that must complete a rotation in 1 second.

However - there is a config.txt option to adjust the animation speed:

Add the following just below the anim line

animation-loop-speed 0.5

Let me know if this doubles the opening time.

If not then I'll make a change to the plugin for you.

OK, thanks Paul!

I'll give the animation loop speed option a try sometime very late tonight and post back the results.

Heh...

OK, i tried the "animation-loop-speed 0.5".

The good news is that it did slow the animation down.

The bad news is now the doors continuously open and close whether or not the train is in a station! Which is quite comical looking, i will say! Smile

So, unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's going to be a valid solution.

If you could update the plugin Paul, i would certainly be grateful! Smile

Thanks!!

OK - it may be a day or 2, I'll post it here.

It will check for animations that use more than 32 key frames and fix it at 32fps.

So 64 key frames will play 2 seconds.

You do not need to define every frame - only the start and end points of the motion.

The updated trainz export plugins are now on my website.

I have tested this with a model viewer, but not directly in TRS - it should work!

I defined 64 key frames in the animation and it halved the rate.

Yep, that did the trick! Animations are now playing at the speed i want 'em, everything else i've tried seems to be working fine too.

Thanks again Paul!
