Are there any insurmountable obstacles (technically, that is) to making an MSTS import function direct from the S file? It would be exceedingly useful to open existing MSTS models to see how certain shapes were handled in the mesh.

Just wondering, not necessarily asking for such a feature...

Not insurmountable, no. It would be tricky though. I won't be writing one in the forseeable future. But it probably could be done by a user using 3D Canvas scripting (no guarantees though). It would be a major undertaking.
