I am probably overlooking something obvious, but cannot manage to make an animated scenery object for MSTS.

I can work out how to animate in canvas, just not how to get it exported with the Shape.

Searching the forums, I find a clue from jseoler in feb 02 who said:

I figured it out. I need 3 objects with the correct names. Then it works. It doesn't work with just a single object.

So, what are the names required for the objects to get them to animate?

I am sure it is easy once one knows how!

TIA
Alan

I think I've worked it out - my tests were not working because it was a single object, and presumably as it was moving so was the origin, so there was no relative movement.

Having created another test with two cubes, one moving with respect to the other, this does export to MSTS as an animation.

Cheers

Hi Alan,

Yes, there is a slight bug with 3DC in that the animation for the root group is never exported (which it should be)

The quick solution is to make a small "base" object of 1-2 polys and use a sub-group to hold the main object. You can then animate the sub-group.
