Part2...A space theme intro/demo thingie

You can produce this sort of thing very easily with Blitz. This one just happens to be space because I had the models and textures available.

I've had to remove many ot the features from the ship model to keep the overall file size to below 80k, so if you think it looks a bit naff and featurless, thats why.
This time I converted the file to .b3d, to reduce the file size. As a .x file it was 673k while the same file as .b3d
comes out as only 123k..Nice.
Also with the textures, I've had to reduce the sizes considerably. The original planet texture was 512 x 512 and it looked great, it's now down to 128 x 128 and doesn't look quite so good.

You can greatly improve on what you see with this demo, I'm sure anyone can build a better spaceship than this and my nebula textures are terrible to say the least. Also the starfield could be graetly improved.
Also I'm staying with DX lighting. If you load something like this into Gile[s] and produce a lightmap the difference is amazing.

I've added some new commands and created the planet with Blitz. I,ve rotated the texture on the planet instead of the planet entity...just for a change. You can adjust it's rotational speed in the UpdateGame function.

You can still move around the scene with the arrow keys, but if you wait a few seconds when it loads, you will see the ship appeare (I hope) bottom left of the screen and drift toward the planet.
Some kind of ambient noise would help with the overall effect, but the one I use had to large a file size. Maybe you could load your own.

Just unzip the file Space1.zip into your MY_GAMES folder in Blitz, double click the SpaceSim1.bb file and it will load into Blitz.Run it either from the Program menu or with the red arrow icon next to the house icon.

Anyway here's a screenshot from the demo, the front view of the ship looks the best. IMO
