I can't understand why Windows Vista (and XP to a lesser extent) can't seem to remember the settings for folders. Everytime I go to a folder it shows it in a different format, or it forgets to sort, or something like that.

I've went to "computer" several times today and I've had AT LEAST 3 different views. Never the one I want.

Is there some way to "lock" the view so that Windows doesn't change it on you?

Not sure about Vista but with XP if you go to Control Panel and folder options, under the View tab you can tick...
Remember each folders view settings
This works for me ok.
