As a spinoff from the plugin work (which is still in progress, I just had other work to do last week) - I now have a small program that will take BMP and TGA files and convert them to .texture files.

These files can then replace the BMP/TGA and .Texture.txt files in models.

They are faster at loading, contain pre-generated mipmaps and also support DXT1,3 & 5 compression, making them even smaller and more memory efficient.
It also seemed to make CDP files about half the normal size (great for downloaders).

This is still beta testing and you lot are good guineapigs Wink

The program is attached here.

Zip/GZ archiveTRSTex.zip (10 Kb, 395 downloads)

Hi Paul,

Will it work for airplane freaks too?

Sorry Richard, I should have mentioned, this is for the "Trainz Railroad Simulator" product only Smile

I have been trying to get Richard (the author of 3DC) to include DDS texture support which is a similar sort of thing to this... maybe in 3DC V7.

Looking forward to the new version. After I apply textures, some of the colors don't exactly look right to me. Is that a lighting or rendering issue?
