Hi Richard,
I took the plunge and tried to install V6.6. However I am running Windows ME. It installs successfully as a message box indicates. However when starting, I receive a message to the effect that an Active-X DLL cannot be opened. Since this is the non-pro free version, can you send me a list of the modules it is looking for when starting up: (e-mail cohearn@satx.rr.com). Are you using Direct-X features which are only in the latest version, or have increased computer hardware requirements been applied. This problem report only applies to the computer on which I test 3DC. It is not a show stopper. The latest version of the pre V6.6 is running fine on my main computer. Obviously, since I haven't seen other complaints, it may only be a case of missing or out of date system components. Since you changed the renderer in V6.6, I suspect that Direct-X is behind this, but I await your suggestions and help. Regards, Charles |

Hi Richard,
I've finally just got around to trying 6.6! However, I have come across a bit of a problem with translucencies. Easier to show then describe:- First picture is a coach model (MSTS) displaying in canvas 6.5 :- and the same model displayed in canvas 6.6 :- The model uses TGA textures with the windows cut out via alpha channels. Top picture is how it appears in the game but in 6.6, all the coach sides are translucent and some of the interior dissappers. I'm also finding that the performance of 6.6 is fairly sluggish as well. Setup is a P4 1.6 ghz processor, Windows XP pro and a Nvidea 5600 fx 128 video card using the latest drivers. Cheers Kevin |

Charles,
One other person is reporting that problem with Windows 98 (SE). I'm going to have to investigate some more. Hopefully I can come up with a solution. Even though 6.6 does not technically support Windows 98/Me I would still like it to run if there is any way to do it. Kevin, I'm having a look at the translucency issue over the next few days. I'm not sure what to make of it. Paul also reported that he thought 6.6 was sluggish. I'm not sure what I can do about that for 6.6 unfortunately. Richard |

Hi Richard,
The exteme translucency of the coach may have been down to me using applying too high a translucency setting when the texture was applied Still have a few problems with 6.6 but will send you an e-mail describing them. Cheers Kevin |

Hi Richard.
Version 6.6 still has problems with transulcency and trainsim export. In 3DC the scene looks good, after export the translucency is gone. After reverting back to 6.5.06 everything works as expected. I am building tracks, and the trackbed contains translucent parts and non-translucent-parts, both are out of the same texture-file. There is a visible difference between 6.6 and 6.5 in the 3DC scene: the alpha channel 'pollutes' other non-alpha textures in version 6.5 but exorting is fine, 6.6 shows correct in the scene, but does not export correctly.
