Hi All,

3D Canvas 6.6.5.11 is now available for download: Download 3D Canvas 6.6.5.11

Changes in this release:

o) Fixed a problem where translucency was not being exported to MSTS when a translucency map was used. (TGA translucency worked properly)

o) Fixed a problem where faces were not propery triangulated for the MSTS export. This was resulting in "webs" between faces, in particular with extrudes.

o) Removed the "Repair" operation. It is now obsolete since the repairing it did is now done on the fly by 3D Canvas while modelling.

o) Fixed a problem where BioVision (bvh) file were not importing.

o) Updated the Export DirectX script to export texture coordinates (UVs)

o) Improved the performance of Undo/Redo. Models with many textures will see the most improvement.

o) Fixed a problem where objects would sometimes lose their texture when being copied, or being moved between groups. Unfortunately, there are still circumstances where older models may have this problem. The solution is to compact before moving/copying.

o) Fixed a problem where Divide Horizontal and Divide Vertical would have an extra point along edges that were not supposed to be divided.

o) Fixed a problem where error 91 would occur when moving objects. This happened most often in the object builders.

o) Fixed a problem where error 9 would occur when using the Terrain Builder's "random terrain"

o) Fixed a problem where GDI objects where not being released. This could lead to unexpected crashing.

Some of the changes in this release had wide ranging effects unfortunately. This was complicated by the fact that I am currently coding in 7.0 (just started) and had to retrofit changes to 6.6.5. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I didn't break anything.

Richard

Until now i have seen only a microbug with the lathe tool. If 2 points are place right upon the white line that create the y axis the program crash with a error #9. Only in this case. If the second points isn't on the line all is normal.
Nothing else Cool

Bye BYe

Yes, I agree, no problems with this version, it's good to get back to trouble free construction again.

That's good to hear.

I have the error #9 bug fixed for the next version. At this point I'm not sure that there will be a 6.6.5.12. This bug is not enough to put out a release for.

I've got a complex model developed with 6.5.1.0 that 6.6.5.11 will not convert. (Yes, I've installed the File Upgrader Add-In.) It goes through the motions of converting the file, completing multiple progress bars and completing the display of the model hierarchy. At that point, the file upgrade info modal dialog is removed, but without refreshing the underlying content. During all of this time, the CPU utilization is 97-100 percent. I've left it run the better part of an hour.

What do you recommend?

Also, as an annoyance factor, the 6.6.5.11 install demotes both 6.6.5.11 and 6.5.1.0 to Basic configurations, requiring me to re-enter my license code and download and install the Pro upgrades for both versions.

Send me the model (support@amabilis.com) and I'll try to track down the cause.

With 3D Canvas it's always necessary to re-enter your license code on upgrade to a new version. But, you didn't need to download and install the Pro Upgrade for 6.5.1.0. Once the code was entered and 6.5.1.0 was restarted it would have had all of the Pro features again.

Ok, I managed to fix this for 6.6.5.12. I'm not quite ready to release it yet.

What you can do in the mean time to get this model to load into 6.6.5 is use the Triangulate operation in 6.5.1 on these two parts: Right Half-Yolk and Left Hal Yolk.

The model will then load into 6.6.5.

BTW, nice model!

any luck with the 32811 error in the CSG initialisation on 64bit systems?

My old trusty PC finally had a disk crash last night, so I'm a bit limited now.

Can you resend those emails?

That's very interesting, and unexpected. I'll send you a new test program.

The install instructions say remove previous versions. I don't know if you mean any previous version or versions older than, say, 6.0 (or any other specific value).

I think you really do mean any older version but we had such a horrible time getting my installation up and running (it's 6.5.1) that I'm quite gun shy about uninstalling it and trying the latest.

So do I really need to yank out 6.5.1?

You can keep 6.5.1 on your system. There are minor conflicts between the versions that don't happen often in practice. But, if you find one day one or the other no longer works, uninstll and reinstall 6.6.5.11 and it should fix both.
