3D Canvas 8.1.2 is now available for download:

You will likely need to uninstall your old version before installing this new version. I'm not quite sure why, but it seems to be necessary.

This is mostly a "bug-fix" release.

This release (and 8.1.1) includes all of the "re-implementations" of features left out of 3D Canvas 8 that I have planned.

Re-implemented Features
-----------------------

o) All Trainworks related plug-ins. Thanks to Paul, who did almost all of these for me.

o) The Bevel, Warp, Taper+, Twist+, Flatten and Shear operations.

o) The Particle operation. It really needs a re-write for version 9 to be more efficient, and take advantage of new features I've added to the renderer.

o) The Surface Shape Builder. Again, I want to re-write this for version 9. I am not a fan of it, even though I wrote it (a very long time ago).

o) Animation Sequences, ghosting and auto-repeat

o) Completely Revised User Interface

3D Canvas' user interface has been fully revised.


o) New Integrated Tutorials

Tutorials are now available directly on the Properties & Information Panel


o) Improved Docking and Pinning

The Construction and Properties & Information panels have been improved to provide better docking/undocking and pinning/unpinning.


o) Resizable Undocked Panels

Undocked panels can now be resized.


o) Expandable Docked Panels

Docked panels can now be expanded in size.


o) New Component Properties Shortcuts

The properties of components can now be reached by double-clicking.


o) Improved Bone Skinning

Parameters for bones can now be adjusted while a skeleton is not relaxed.


o) Enhanced Rail Simulator Export

The Rail Simulator export now supports additonal options including custom field values.

In this release I improved the performance of qutie a few features, from rendering, to loading to the speed of various operations.

I should mention that I'm unhappy enough with the Particle operation and Surface Shape Builder that I won't be putting them in the "official" list of supported features. They are in the release, but I would consider them "bonus" features.

It's best to report problems via the Bug Reports Forum. Ideally one post per bug.

This makes it easier for me to track problems and solutions. Otherwise the reports just get lost among the rest of the posts on the forum.
