Hi All,

Beta 1 of 3D Canvas 7.0.1.2 is now available for download: Download 3D Canvas 7.0.1.2

This version includes support for Windows Vista.

Unfortunately I have no test system currently, so the installation could well fail. If so, you can uninstall and revert to a previous version of 3D Canvas.

If anyone can test this installation with Windows Vista/XP/2000 etc, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

This version of 3D Canvas no longer requires a download of additional features. The "Download the Pro Upgrade" function on the Help menu is gone. It has been replaced by a "Download Updated Help". So, if you don't need the help there is only one download required. This makes it so there is no chance of mismatched Pro Upgrades. It also means that the download is now 10MBs. I couldn't do this before because the cost of providing downloads was too high. But it's went down recently.

Richard

Sorry about the delay. I'm very embarassed to say that I forgot my ftp username and there was no way to retrieve it. But, I'm holidays. I can't be expected to think TOO much about work can I? Smile

The file is available for download now.

I should mention that it isn't possible to download the help file yet. It seems that Internet Explorer doesn't see MSI files as a valid download.

Same problem as earlier version when you select View and select the 4 view mode you get an all black view window and the program locks up.

Under XP? Anti-aliasing on? Which video card / driver?
I just tried: no problem with ATI X800XL + Catalyst 6.10 + Anti-aliasing off.

3D Canvas runs correctly on my main system (ATI X300 graphics). This includes changing the number of available views.

I can't say at this point what the cause of the problems are. I expect that it is a mix of 3D Canvas bugs and driver problems.

I expect it will take a while before all of the manufacturers have good drivers available. I noticed that quite a few high profile products including Google Sketchup are having problems with Vista or arent' available. It's nice not to be alone. Smile
