Hi all,
I am trying to animate an object(cube) so I can export the animation as shockwave. When I do it the animation seem to be off quite a bit. I've made the cube and put it right in-front of the camera. The animation path seems to be at or near my original focal point. Too often my path goes low to the floor of the scene and the camera path is well below the floor. The animation camera view looks right from the camera view but animation path itself is off. Any ideas? Thanks, Marty |

There was an issue found (likely with shockwave3d) regarding animation paths: http://www.amabilis.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi?board=Shockwave3D;action=display;num=1029281685
Another possibility is that 3D Canvas sets the Shockwave camera position/orientation to that of the 3D Canvas animation camera. Richard |

Thanks Richard but the path is off in 3D canvas pro. I can see the animation path clearly traveling ahead and below the camera. When I export to Director the path appears to follow the path I see in 3D Canvas not the view I see in 3D canvas.
Thanks, Marty |

I'm not following. Have you set your 3D Canvas view to use the animation camera? Are you animating the position of the animation camera?

Richard,
I believe I am. I've dragged the camera to make it a child of the box I am animating. Then I am moving the box around. Am I doing this right. I read the blurb on how shockwave won't accept a regular animation. Thanks, Marty |

You can send me the 3DC file if you want and I can have a look. I can probably figure it out pretty quickly. (submissions@amabilis.com).

I had a look and it appears that animation and object orientation goes wrong when an object gets rotated around 180 degrees. Usually this sort of problem has to with translation of angles between different formats (matrices->eulers for example).
I'm going to have to keep looking into this. Richard |

Richard,
Any luck with the animation issue? I would like to make something that I could post. Keep me updated if you could. Thanks! Marty |

No luck yet, but one thing you could do is use the "Normalize Groups" plug-in on your scene. This won't entirely fix the animation but it should make it so your scenery object are oriented properly.
Also, if you avoid rotating the camera more than about 170 degrees it may work. Richard |
