I am running win xp sp 2 and using the latest 3dcanvas I downloaded friday. Any suggestions I am also running Rail Simulator in window mode |

I am still working on trying to export this item
Instead of pressing the review button when I finished exporting I closed down the Asset Editor.Run the rail Simulator.Pressed the object filter button and the name showed up under bridges.I click on the name and all I get is a gizmo..Any suggestions as to what my problem is. |

I am just about ready to put this simulator up on the shelf and go back to MSTS.I am still not having any luck trying to export a object. I used Ians toolstore today and followed his pictorial, but still no joy. When I get everything done in asset editor and press preview button I get the send dont send window. If I just press validate button I get an error message "Didn't find shape or texture files to validate" I sure would appreciate some guidance on this...

Well what I am wondering if I am exporting the object right and to the right folder.
I the source folder I have set up folders for the route I made Source\CecKerr\selkirks.In the Selkirks folder is 2 more folders,SeriesMarkers and Namedmarkers. If I want to export a building do I set up another folder called buildings and the put a folder called textures in it.Do I put the 3dcanvas export file in Buildings and put the texture files in the texture folder.? This is what I have been doing but I get the message "cant find shape or texture file to validate' when I try to validate |

Hi Retired,
I set mine up as outlined in the DevDocs, using your names:- Source\CecKerr\selkirks and under that you need Audio Environment Particles RailNetwork RailVehicles RouteMarkers Scenery Stations System TemplateRoutes TimeOfDay Weather Under Scenery is a further folder Tree You place your SeriesMarkers and NamedMarkers .csv files in the RouteMarkers folder and build BluePrints in there. Your buildings should be placed in the Scenery\Buildings folder and their textures in Scenery\Buildings\Textures. Then they should export OK. However, although I do not get a send/dont send message, when I Export anything, the view window goes completely black and locks up. I have to close this then the export completes. When I then restart the Asset Editor, I can view the model OK, so I am assuming this is a video driver problem rather than an Asset Editor problem Mike. |

What operating system are you using, Mike? I have an occasional asset manager lock up when exporting and previewing, but almost constant lockups if exporting and previewing a model containing shaders. This is using my vista based pc. My old xp pro system seems to work fine when exporting, though! Kevin |

Hi Mike
Thanks for the reply. I have the TemplateRoute and Routemarkers folders in the Selkirk folders now. When I set up the route and markers I made those folders. For the rest do I copy and paste them in the Selkirks folder from the Developer\Addon folder??? As for filling out the Blueprint what do you put under Blueprint ID? |

Thanks everybody for your help. I finally got the asset editor to work.It seems that after a certain age its not unusual to get 2 or 3 brain cramps a day. I kept making the same mistake over and over agin in the asset editor.Once It dawned on me what I was doing wrong ,everything worked the way it should.

I'm having the same problems... both the asset editor crashing and the "after a certain age" brain cramps.
With the asset editor, I just start it up again. A nap seems to help with the other problem. |

Same with me. I'm so fed-up with asset editor crashing, that I dont use it anymore. I use the Blueprint Editor on its own, and never get any problems.
