I'd like to animate the rotation of a cylinder from one of it's ends rather than its center. Right now if I rotate it and then move it into position it drifts around as it rotates. Chaning the pivot point would give me clean rotation with no drift.

I've read about the Shift Operation using the Object Layers Panel but apparently am misunderstanding it as I haven't been able to get it to work. I would be grateful if someone could explain exactly what to do to shift the pivot point. Thanks,

Sue

Hi Sue,

I use 3DC 7.1.2.0...

I think what you need to do is just go into the Face/Point select mode (small square icon below the pointer on the right hand tool bar) - Select the face or point that you would like to be the the center of rotation... Make sure it's hilighted... Then run the "Shift Center" operation in the operations tool bar on the left hand side of your screen (black square with blue "x" through the middle)... LOL - I've never been a real fan of the 3DC icons - but then again - they are so small you don't have many pixels to work with...

Hope this helps...

Regards,
Scott
