Hi,
I am trying to install 3D Canvas 7.1.1.2 with Windows XP 64-bit (with Service Pack 2 and DX9). I logged on as Administrator and installed it with "Run" in the Start Menu using msiexec /i "path\3DCanvas.msi" ALLUSERS"2" as per the Readme file. The installer defaults to C:\Program Files (x86)\3D Canvas 7\ and that's where I installed it. The installer runs and says it is installed successfully. When I then run "Regedit" the Amabilis folder is in a different place in the registry from what the Readme file says. In my registry it is: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Amabilis\3D Canvas" That's where I right clicked and set "Users" to "Allow-Full Control" as per the Readme file. When I try to run 3d Canvas I get: An unrecoverable error has occurred. If you continue to receive this message please contact Amabilis at support@amabilis.com. (#32811) I have uninstalled and tried again several times with no success. Can anybody help, please? Graham This message has been edited. Last edited by: GrahamP, |

To add to the above, the <3d Canvas.log> file reads:
04/02/2010 | 19:57:16 | Begin 3D Canvas Log 04/02/2010 | 19:57:16 | Basic Install Valid 04/02/2010 | 19:57:16 | Single 3D Canvas Instance Running 04/02/2010 | 19:57:22 | Error #. 32811 Error Description: Application-defined or object-defined error Error Location: modMain.Main Hopefully that will mean something to somebody? Hi Graham,
I, and a few others, have had huge troubles getting it working with XP64 I'm sure I had it running once, then re-installed XP and couldn't get it going again. It was something to do with some of the DirectX DLL's not being in the windows\syswow64 folder. Which ones they were I can't remember I gave up and went back to 32bit XP. |

Hmmmm, thanks for answering, Paul. FSX works better 64bit XP so I'm reluctant to go back to 32bit.

It must be do-able, I did get an older version of 3DC working with XP64.
It was around the time of the change from 3DC 6.5 to 7 so perhaps installing 3DC 6.5 may help? I also reinstalled DirectX 9.0c which may have helped. Also worth checking the video driver is up to date. |
