I noticed that when I view a model at increasing distances from the model, the rendering of the model becomes distorted. Edges which should be straight lines become zig-zagged. Severe moire patterns become visible.
I thought it might be graphics card related, but it is the same on ATI and Nvidia. It happens with a newly created model as well as an imported older model. I have tried various 3DC display options and rendering in software, that does not help either. The model dispalays correctly at any distance in earlier (6.*.*) versions of 3DC. I've noticed there are some artifacts when you move away from models in 7.0
I think they might be related to the change in the view frustrum and the z-buffering for the latest version. Richard - what are the min/max view distances in the 3DC viewport? |

The min/max distances are .1/1000. Yes, this is the cause. I'd reduce the 1000 to something a little smaller but some of my code relies on being able to see objects that are that far away.
This is resolved in 7.0.2 by the introduction of 32 bit and 24 bit depth buffers. |
